holiday shopping trendsPUT YOURSELF IN THE BUYERS SHOES

Keeping up with current buyer trends can be the difference between a good holiday sales season and a record setting holiday sales season for you and your business. Lets make this year the best yet!

We are a little over three months away from the holidays. Seems like we have all the time in the world to prepare for the holiday shopping season right?  Think again!

Almost half of all holiday shoppers begin their shopping by Halloween and some earlier.  That is roughly six weeks away depending on when you read this. The sooner we start preparing for the holiday sales season, the more profitable and less stressful it will be, so lets start now!

As shoppers continues to trend to the mobile side of things, it is important to have exposure on the most popular social media sites.  Mobile buyers tend to visit Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest for gift giving ideas. I don't have to look any farther than my own family to know this is true as I am constantly being shown Pinterest pictures that would be a "great gift for so and so."  Buyers are looking for something that is unique to set themselves apart as gift givers.  That's where you come in.  Handmade fused glass art is about as unique as it gets.

A large percentage of holiday shoppers admit to purchasing gifts for themselves.  Encourage this behavior!  For many, the holiday season is a stressful time, so let your potential buyers know it is ok to take a break and reward themselves for making so many others happy.  Glass lovers know what they want, so let them have it.

Be sure to incorporate the big holiday shopping days into your marketing plan such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.  These days happen right after Thanksgiving and offer a great chance to get in front of all those potential buyers who will be scouring the internet for gift ideas and deals.

You have two types of customers to market towards.  Those who have not purchased from you yet and those who have. Many artists tend to focus on those customers who have yet to purchase from them, but it is important to target your past customers as well.  We know how important it is to keep every email address that we come across.  Connect with your past customers and let them know you are here for their holiday shopping needs.  Let them know that you have fresh inventory inspired by new techniques you have learned.  Often, this will result in multiple purchases from a single past buyer and it goes towards building a solid foundation of repeat buyers.

I will continue to share marketing and sales ideas in hopes of helping you gain more sales, more efficiently.
