Kiln Needed: You must have a vitrigraph kiln to complete this technique
Equipment/Machinery Needed: None
Taking a thoughtful approach to using the Vitrigraph kiln we can create cane and murrine that rival those created in a hot shop. Capitalizing on the ways glass can be arranged in and flows from a crucible, students in this innovative workshop will learn to create reproducible decorative canes and intricate murrine using the Vitrigraph Kiln. These elements can then, immediately, be used in other kiln-glass projects. This video focuses on creating a murrine wall panel that can be hung as decorative glass art, however, once this technique can applied to any fused glass project that you create. Bowls, plates, part sheets, drop out vases, jewelry etc. Nathan does not hold back and gives so much information, you will surely benefit from this video by using his teachings in all aspects of your glass work. Handouts, diagrams and firing schedules are also available for you to download. Nathan also includes 3 additional bonus recipes with diagrams in your handouts to get you started! In addition, you will gain admittance in a private Facebook student group hosted by AAE Glass and Nathan Sandberg where you will continue to learn and share ideas with other students who haven taken this online video class.
Private Facebook Group: A private student group has been created on Facebook entitled: “AAE & Nathan Sandberg Student Group - Vitigraph Murrine: A Foundation” You can search the name and request entry or copy and past this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/VitrigraphMurrine/ Please allow up to 72 hours for your request to be approved. Value for money and the notes are useful review by Karen Smart on 9/8/2019
I have not got a kiln for this kind of work , and there are no local courses, so this course was an inexpensive way to see if I might want to take it further. Handouts are useful.
Greeat class review by Cindy on 9/7/2019
I took this class from Nathan about 5 years ago at Bullseye Glass in Portland. I still learned new techniques in this class. Though I have my notes from the first class, having it "live" from Nathan in my library is very helpful. Thank you!
Worth every penny! review by Georgette Phillips on 1/13/2019
Thank you Nathan Sandberg for partnering with AAE to share your techniques. I have a full time job and it is hard to get away to attend classes. By purchasing this video I was able to learn a new technique despite my busy schedule. I am able to replay the video as needed and can play the video at the same time as I attempt the project. Nathan is a wonderful instructor and is so easy to follow. Thanks to Nathan I was also able to cut a perfect circle! I look forward to purchasing his other videos.
Awesome review by Deborah Josling on 1/9/2019
Nathan’s instructions and notes were easy to follow to achieve perfect results everytime. And to be able to re-watch anytime a refresher is needed is such a bonus and is actually better value than travelling to attend a class. Well done both AAE Glass and Nathan Sandberg. Cant wait for the next one.
Excellent teacher in Excellent lesson! review by SARAH on 1/8/2019
This video is an excellent production! Nathan is very exacting in his technique. I love this way to get the education across to us glass artists who might not be able to travel to AAE to take a class...AND for those of us who have but have this video to remind us of certain details of the technique. It's something that's always on my computer to refer to. Thank you AAE Glass for this awesome opportunity at an affordable price!
Very comprehensive review by Vicky on 10/22/2018
Sadly Nathan canceled the courses he was going to teach in New Zealand this month, so the second best option for hands-on tuition with Nathan has been this great video which is very comprehensive and I would recommend it to anyone who can't get to his classes.
Don't miss out! review by Denise on 10/8/2018
This video was everything I hoped for. Being Canadian it is not easy to find professional courses being offered in my area. This video surpassed my expectations! It was informative and easy to follow along. I had been pulling murrini's but Nathan made it so much better. I learned many new things and am excited to add them in my projects.
Bucket List! review by Lisa S. on 10/6/2018
I have been wanting to take Nathan's class for a long time....quality video at a reasonable price....money saved from travel and paying for a live class was allocated to buying the kiln used in this video & purchased at a competitive price on AAE's website. WIN-WIN
An absolute must if you want to pull vitrigraph cane! review by Lindsay Blankenship on 10/5/2018
This video made pulling my FIRST vitrigraph cane a complete success! I do not have easy access to "in person" classes on making murrine with a vitrigraph kiln, but I really wanted to make my own cane and murrine. Thanks to this video, I can! The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I set up my kiln, following the video, and pulled my very first cane - no problems! Thank you!
Loved it, so much info review by Rosie Mitchell on 10/4/2018
My partner brought me a Paragon Caldera for my birthday, was hesitant to use it but after watching the video with Nathan it gave me the confidence to start, amazing from start to finish, thank you.
Good Investment review by Marlene R Wegner on 9/29/2018
Being able to watch OVER AND OVER I find these videos to be a great reinforcement of Nathen's detailed instructions on creating murrini. Classes are always a great personal experience, but I receive more retention of the subject matter when reviewing the videos than when trying to rely on personal memory.
Great lesson. review by Carol Curry on 9/27/2018
I really understood Nathan’s murrine technique by watching this video. He is a through teacher. The background music is a lot of fun.
Love love love this video review by Talljules on 9/26/2018
This is a fantastic video! I had been pulling murrini before I saw this video, but there was so much more left to learn. Nathan is detailed and explains what happens and why it happens. While watching the video, I was writing down questions and he answered all of them before the end of the video. Felt like a one on one lesson.
Great video and teacher review by Lindsay Butler on 9/26/2018

This is a must buy. I have been dying since I got it because I do not have my vitrigraph kiln set up yet. The things you will be able to do with this video are endless and as soon as I have my set up I will be purchasing the next video!

Fantastic review by Bridget on 6/9/2017
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video and appreciated the quality of the production. The instructor provided all of the information needed to create murine. If you cannot travel to take a class with Nathan this is the next best way to learn from the creator of this glass technique. Thank you to both Nathan and AAE Glass for creating a professional video that not only provides all of the elements for creating murine, but also offering the product at an affordable price!
Worth every penny (actually worth more than charged but don't tell Tanya that!) review by okartist2be on 6/9/2017
OMG!! I never knew how approachable making murine with a kiln is. I thought it must be very difficult and always looked at Nathan's work as incredibly beautiful but not something I could aspire to. No more! I'm so excited. Thank Nathan and AAE Glass for making this possible.
