In this four day class, Morgan Madison will take students from concept to completion while teaching students to develop an idea and create work using Morgan's signature techniques to achieve the distinct linear quality and crisp character of his glass work.
Through technical demonstrations and one on one discussion we will explore facets of the process including: developing ideas in the sketchbook, cutting and assembling of glass compositions, and preparation of work for firing. Several different projects will allow students to experiment with these techniques while being challenged to think creatively about concept. Finishing work in the cold shop and strategies for presenting it for display will round out the content.
The aim of this class is to give students the tools to pursue their own unique visions efficiently and confidently and to have fun while doing so.
About Morgan Madison
Morgan Madison is a Pacific Northwest based artist. Growing up in Denver as the middle of 3 brothers he sought early on to find his own niche and discovered it in art.
Drawing was his first love and it led him to Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR where he received a BA in Studio Art. Thereafter, a fateful job in the fiery depths of a glass factory led to his pursuit of glass as a medium.
